The 2000's

From my desk I'm about to bring you a blog about the good old 2000-2010 era of our country.

9/11 was a very defining event in this time. Terrorists somehow were allowed into our country, and flew planes into 4 different places, one was the pentagon, two hit the twin towers, and the last one hit on the border of Pennsylvania, some people believe that it was meant for the White House! After the attacks the United States citizens were terrified! they believed that our country was unsafe and that we wouldn't be able to recover from it. eventually our country pulled through, and tightened our borders, and our security system. Our country was once again safe, and was at a very minimal risk of that kind of event every happening again.

Another terrifying event was the war in Iraq. in this was we sent many people to go out to fight for other countries, the only reason that America was involved in this war was because we decided to be "helpful" and send our troops to help out their country, and let most of them die and not send them back when they should be sent back. President Obama in my opinion made mistakes in the way that he took over the war after he came into office. We have way to many people in Iraq, and there are even more wars that we are involved in that need more troops to help them. With our country being involved in so many wars this event affected the United States culture by killing our brave men, and our president not letting them come home.

Hurricane Katrina, was a terrible storm that hit the bottom part of the U.S. It affected a couple of our states, and even Cuba! It brought down our economy, and job opportunities. it killed the fishing industry, and other industries that rely on fish, such as restaurants. The hurricane ripped right through our country causing chaos and killing a lot of people and destroying the livings houses and belongings. Our country rebounded well from this, we sent rescue teams down to the destroyed areas, and helped to bring our fallen country back up. This represented our culture very well, and showed that no matter what is put in our way, we will climb over the obstacle.

The United States had many different aspects of culture back then, and we don't every remember them, but they did exist. They liked music, movies, food, technology, and even art. I am going to put 3 up for discussion for you. I would like to talk about their food, music, and technology. The technology that they had in the 2000-2010 era was very good...for their time. They had computers, they had cars, and they had good transportation. On the downside they had guns and nuclear weapons, which brought war upon our world. The wars then brought people hearing about their loved ones dead, and that brought them to want to be by themselves. And use what they called iPods to shut themselves out from the rest of the world. Their food was not good for them though. It brought obesity to our country, and with obesity comes laziness, and with that comes less people working, and with that come poverty. None of that is good for our country. Music is a good way to block yourself out from everyone. You can have you headphones in or on and not hear anything. People could be getting killed and you won't know it! There are downfalls to everything we can think of, but there is always the flip side to think of which normally is good. All of these topics can be weaved together to show that there is a good side to them or there is the bad side which is that we can block out people we don't like or just don't want to talk to at that moment. And that is definitely not good for us.
